Sportswear_project
After my half-spontaneous Valencia trip( which I will tell you about later on) I'm back in cold & rainy London. This is my 5th september in London-town. Feels more like.. forever? But I'm happy and proud, that I've survived that long here, so I guess that's the most important thing, right?
So I started my uni. And of course got the biggest project ever. Sportswear. Mixed emotions really. First like heeeey, cool! then like "meeeh.. toooo much to do, too technical, have no freakin idea what the hell am I doing", then " i have no idea what sport + concept will i choose" annd then.. it all came to me like *pooooffffff!* and now I'm just happy with my theme and things are looking really good. At least for now. I'm sure that after tomorrows tutorial I will want to die or choose a new theme or whaaaaaaaatever. But let's just enjoy this moment, please?
So I'm doing sportswear and my starting point is skydiving. It's something I've done myself and it really is SOMETHING. + I find these aerial photographs so-so beautiful. Love-LOVE the shapes and blocks that are so strong and kind of fixed, and then clouds and the sun and the air. Oh god. Beautiful. For me it's a lot about transparency and air and movement. but also, about shapes and big locks, zips, bags and pockets. And parachute of course.
Other than sport( skydiving in my case) we had to choose a concept- something else that inspires us. That could be anything really. This project for me is a lot about close up of eyeballs( haha. YES!), trees, stairs and blurred images. It's about same colour in different tones. Maybe a little bit of wood or leather. Surface. Strong seams.
If everything goes well then the final result will be mix of all the things above.
We are not allowed to use pattern blocks or anything 2D creating our 3D garments. We will have to present at least 2 garments + research sketchbook + 40 A4 design developments + finalised photo shoot + all work presented in a proffessional portfolio in just about 4-5 weeks. Feels insane. Especially after this crazy-long summer I had. But I'm motivated and full of ideas, so I guess there couldn't be a better start?

I've made a new tumblr for myself for this project, where I will collect images and scanned articles/books/photographs that I've found and that inspire me / are related. Just to keep everything in one place. I know that might me a bit boring for everybody else, but I guess I can still share a link with you HERE
PS! just zoom as much as you can with this terrible blogger system. these are actually beautiful images, in my opinion, and are all about details- and it's impossible to see this way. They will be presented/ printed on fine tracing paper, attached with big silver paperclips, each page will be separated by fine and very light layout paper and all of that ( with design developments etc) will be sealed in matt plastic transparent A4 size envelope. At least that's the plan for now.
