Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències
I spent weeks and weeks eating well, drinking wine, having midnight walks, eating ice cream at the beach and being superhealthy and running every morning in the riverbed of former river Turia, which was drained and rerouted in the 50s. Instead of that they created an amazing 10 km long park which goes through the city. In the middle of it there is City of Arts & Sciences which has become one of the main landmarks of Valencia. And with Valencia being very traditional ( super spanish in terms of food, architecture, people etc) it creates a great contrast.
I remember the first time I saw it and I was completely blown off by the size and the beauty of it. It felt so surreal that something so big have been built there. Being in middle of all these XXXL size buildings makes you feel so-so small.
Cinema, planetarium, museum of science, oceanographic park, opera house, sports center, nightclub and many other things are part of this complex which was designed by Santiago Calatrava and Felix Candela in 90s.
Beautiful architectural lines, amazing symmetry everywhere.
Enjoy the beauty.
